From the ParishFather McIntosh dies on EpiphanyThe Rev. Moultrie Hutchinson McIntosh, 80, died on the Feast of the Epiphany, Jan. 6, 2004. Services were held at Christ Church Cathedral, Lexington, on Saturday, Jan. 11, with Bishop Stacy Sauls as Celebrant and the Rev. Canon Russell Johnson as Preacher. Born in Society Hill, S.C., he was a graduate of the University of the South, Sewanee and St.Luke’s School of Theology, Sewanee. He was ordained to the diaconate in 1950 and to the priesthood in 1951. He served as a missionary in Nicaragua for three years; then at St. Bartholomew’s, Hartsville, S.C.; St. Stephen’s, Oak Ridge, Tenn.; and from 1967-77 as rector of Christ Church, Lexington, after which he served St. James’, Prestonsburg; St. Patrick’s, Somerset, and St. Paul’s, Murfreesboro, Tenn. After his retirement, he returned to Lexington and served as an associate on the staff of Christ Church Cathedral. He was a board member and frequent leader of the Christian Medical Society, had served as a trustee of the University of the South, a fellow of the College of Preachers in Washington, D.C., and on the boards of Faith at Work, Faith Alive and the Anglican Fellowship of Prayer. A painter and poet, he also enjoyed singing, symphony and operatic music, golf, tennis and racquetball. He is survived by his daughter, Margaret Elizabeth (Larry) of Reno, Nev.; sons, John Moultrie McIntosh (Lori) and David Clark McIntosh (Katherine), and former wife, Helen Churchill Wiggington McClure, all of Lexington, and five grandchildren.
