Standing Committee Clergy Nominees

(1 to be elected for 1 year and 1 to be elected for 3 years)

The Rev. Bill Brown

Church of the Ascension, Frankfort

Vice President and Dean for School for Career Development, Midway College

“I believe that my educational and administrative experiences as a Roman Catholic priest, seminary administrator and member of the Bishop’s administrative staff for the majority of my 33 years as a priest provide me with the knowledge, skills, diplomacy and prudence required to serve on the Standing Committee.  I also bring the unique priestly/lay viewpoint after eight years as an Episcopal layperson.”

The Rev. Joseph Pennington

Trinity, Covington

Rector

“I bring the experience of thirty-two years ordained ministry to service on the Standing Committee. As a priest of the church, I am called to serve more than a local parish.  Over time I have served on diocesan bodies and encouraged closer ties between northern Kentucky and the rest of our diocese.  This has made it possible to live out my Baptismal covenant…‘to seek and serve Christ in all.’”

The Rev. Cynthia Webstock

St. Stephen’s, Covington

Rector

“My special competencies and skills lie in ‘getting the job done.’  In the Diocese of Grahamstown, South Africa, I helped coordinate training for laity and those preparing for the ordained ministry in theological studies.  At the last Grahamstown Diocesan Synod (Convention) I was assistant clerk.  I was involved in coordinating and managing an AIDS Centre from hiring staff to fund-raising and keeping the budget.”

The Very Rev. Morris K. Thompson Jr.

Christ Church Cathedral, Lexington

Dean and Rector

“Since moving back to the Diocese of Lexington over six years ago I have come to understand some of the issues that we struggle with.  I have a deep appreciation for the diversity we share and our common desire to move forward. It is important to me that our dioceses break out of the mold we so often find ourselves in, thinking we are too poor or too small or too whatever in order to see ministry fulfilled.  I look forward to helping develop a vision for our diocese and watching it unfold.”
