Have You Heard About Haiti?

The people of Haiti need our help! The Episcopal Diocese of Lexington and The Episcopal Diocese of Haiti are Companion Dioceses – a mutually established relationship of prayer, encouragement and for the exchange of spiritual and material resources. Since the adoption of this relationship in 2003, Haitians have seen the terrible consequences of a fallen government and the violent effects of anarchy.

Most recently, Haitians have experienced the ravages of awful storms slamming Haiti one after another. Without a viable government or social infrastructure in place to distribute services, the Haitian people are frequently bereft of food, clean water, medical supplies and the means to control violence.

Joining us as a runner, walker, watcher and/or financial contributor in the “Have You Heard About Haiti?” 5K Run/Walk at Keeneland Racecourse on Dec. 4 is a great way to demonstrate awareness and solidarity with those in need and ultimately to provide humanitarian aid to our neighbors in Haiti.

In order to compete in the race or to donate money, you must complete an entry form available in parish and diocesan offices and mail it along with a check made payable to The Episcopal Diocese of Lexington (5K Run/Walk) to The Episcopal Diocese of Lexington, “Have You Heard About Haiti?” Entry, 203 East Fourth Street, P.O. Box 610, Lexington, Ky. 40588-0610.
