Bishop Sauls' 2005 Convention Address: Living Together for Mission

Last year at about this time I was asked by Bishop Phillip Duncan of the Diocese of the Central Gulf Coast to preach at the opening Eucharist at his diocesan convention.  Knowing that we were living in a highly charged atmosphere after General Convention, I called Bishop Duncan, who had voted differently than I had on the issues of homosexuality, to ask if he still wanted me to come.  I certainly did not want to cause more trouble for him than he was already having to deal with, and I wanted to give him a graceful way out.  Unhesitatingly, he asked me to come ahead.  So I did. more
