The 109th convention
passed the following resolutions:
Points that appear here have been summarized , having appeared
on several evaluations following Convention 2005.
R-1: Resolutions to be acted on at the annual Convention
shall be submitted to the Secretary of Convention on or before the 40th
day preceding the opening date of the Convention. Resolutions may be introduced
at Convention but may be acted upon only if introduced in the first business
session of the Convention, the question before the Convention whether
or not the resolution should be considered. 2/3 vote necessary to refer
to appropriate committee.
R-2: Resolution regarding abolishing the death penalty.
The 2005 Convention calls upon the Governor, state representatives and
the President of the United States and representatives in Congress to
enact and adopt legislation abolishing the death penalty.R- 4: Resolution
regarding Long Range Planning. Convention endorse and adopt the Long-Range
Plan, the program to effectuate the objectives of that plan and that the
Long-Range Planning Committee continue to function and operate and report
periodically as necessary to future Conventions.

Mountain, for reminding the Diocese of Lexington of mission within its
own borders.
• Thanks to the Companion Diocese Committee and to Dr. Horace Bartilow,
Ms. Nan Cobbey, Ms. Cathy Walmer, Sr. Marjorie Raphael, Sr. Claire-Marie
and Mr. Jean Reynald for efforts to strengthen our relationship with our
Companion Diocese of Haiti.
• Greetings to the Diocese of Haiti and the Rt. Rev. Jean Zache
Duracin, Bishop of Haiti. Although separated by distance and culture,
we share One Bread.
• Thanks to the Long Range Planning Committee for its hard work
concerning the future of the Diocese of Lexington.
• Thanks to Convention Pages Roxanne Ruggles, Tess Simon, Colleen
Hall, Shelby Leer, Vivian Richmond and Krista Metzger, and to Tellers
Holly Davis, Janey Wilson, Jon Hall, Jessica Otten, and Muffy Stuart for
their efforts to make the convention flow in a smooth and efficient manner.
• Thanks to St. Hubert’s, Clark County; St. Peter’s,
Paris; St. John’s, Versailles; Resurrection, Jessamine County; Church
of Our Saviour, Madison County; Holy Trinity, Georgetown, and Emmanuel,
Winchester for continental breakfasts and break refreshments during Convention.
• Thanks to Marie C. Rogers, Secretary of Convention.
• Thanks to the exhibitors at the Convention.
• Thanks to all who participated in the Silent Auction to benefit
the Diocesan Youth Commission.
• Thanks to the Diocesan Department of Communications, and especially
to Kent Gaitskill, Chas Callaway, Kay Collier McLaughlin and Phillip Haug,
and to the Companion Diocese Committee for the production of the excellent
video “Have You Heard About Haiti?” and study guide.
• Thanks to the staff of the Diocese of Lexington: Maggie Hall,
Andy Sigmon, Cindy Sigmon, the Rev. Canon Johnnie Ross, Kay Collier McLaughlin,
Ellen Darnall, Matt Hartney, the Rev. Bryant Kibler, Karma Cassidy, the
Rev. Donna Barr and Andy Sauls for their efforts in preparing for and
working this convention, and for their faithfulness and work throughout
the year.
• Greetings to Jane Hosea, widow of Bishop Hosea, and to Bishop
Don and Wendy Wimberly.
• The 109th Convention of the Diocese of Lexington sends its love,
prayers, gratitude and deepest appreciation to our Bishop, the Rt. Rev.
