The Advocate is the newspaper of the Diocese of Lexington, published monthly September – April and bi-monthly May-August.

The newspaper includes stories of ministry and mission, presented in a format that emphasizes that local ministry (individual, congregational, parish level) is a part of Diocesan ministry and mission, which is a part of Provincial ministry and mission (the Diocese of Lexington is part of the Fourth Province of the Episcopal Church) which is a part of the national church (the Episcopal Church in the United States of America, or ECUSA) which is a part of the world-wide Anglican Communion.  Some of the stories are “briefs,” while others are longer features.

Pg 9 – From our Anglican World

Short new stories and photos from around the Anglican Communion which enable us to understand how who and what we are impacts our brothers and sisters in Christ around the world, and how what they do impacts us

Pg 10 and 11- From Different Voices

First person theological reflection, devotional/inspirational pieces regularly featuring Reflections by the Editor, and X-ersizing by a young adult, plus other guest editorials

Local Newsletters

 

All congregations in the Diocese of Lexington are encouraged to add the newspaper editor to their newsletter’s mailing list (Dr. Kay Collier McLaughlin, Box 610, Lexington, KY 40588) , if they have not already done so.  The newsletters are a primary source for “People, Parishes and Passions” , included in each issue.  Note: parishes already mailing their newsletter to The Advocate, Editor or Communications office do not need to send another copy.

 

Advocate Mailing List and Address Changes

 

The data base for The Advocate is based primarily on parish mailing lists.  Clergy are requested to update their lists annually, and to make it a practice to send any changes (confirmands, transfers, etc.) to Matt Hartney, Circulation Manager at either Matthartney@diolex.org or Matt Hartney, Box 610, Lexington, KY 40588, 859-252-6527.  The Advocate invites any individual in the Diocese of Lexington who wishes to receive the paper and is not presently doing so, or who needs to update their information to feel free to do so personally.  The Advocate is mailed free of charge to all communicant households.  Individual subscriptions are also available to be sent to interested parties who are not communicants of the Diocese of Lexington at a subscription rate of $25 per year.
