Resolution Alert! Due in Diocesan Office by February 3By Katerina Longfeld Any deputy, Vestry member, Bishop’s Committee of a Mission, the Bishop, Standing Committee, Executive Council and Officers of the Diocese of Lexington may submit resolutions for consideration by the Convention by delivering those resolutions in writing to the secretary of the Convention on or before the 14th day prior to the Convention. (Feb. 3 is the business day 14 days prior to the 2006 Convention.) Submission of resolutions by this date was decreed by vote of the 2005 Convention, and allows for the resolutions to be included in the advance packets sent to deputies, which are being assembled. Resolutions should be mailed to the Convention Secretary, Mission House, Box 610, Lexington, Ky. 40588. Resolutions will be referred to the appropriate Convention Committee. Resolutions submitted to the Secretary later than specified, according to the 2005 decree, shall be returned to the introducers without action. Resolutions may be introduced during Convention, but may be acted on only if introduced in the first business session of the Convention, the question before the Convention that of whether or not the resolution shall be considered. Upon affirmative vote of two-thirds of the delegates, the resolutions will be referred to an appropriate Convention Committee for study and report to that Convention. Resolutions that fail to receive the required vote, as well as resolutions introduced after the close of the first business session of the Convention will not be considered. Nominees for Diocesan offices are pictured on pages 5-8 of this issue of The Advocate. Further information regarding nominees will be included in the convention packets. Nominees will wear special name tags for easy identification throughout the Convention. Deputies are encouraged to make an opportunity to meet each nominee. Dale Chapman, Christ Church Cathedral, has served as Chair of the Nominating Committee. Committee members include Ann Cox, St. John’s, Versailles; Sally Davidson, Trinity, Covington; the Rev. Philip Haug, (Ret.); the Rev. Bonnie Quantrell Jones (formerly of St. Peter’s, Paris) and Bill Jones. |
