Details for Nomination by Petition Process
In addition to the candidates that are being identified by the Nominating Committee, the Canons of our diocese allow for candidates to be nominated by petition. The window for nominations by petition will open on Monday 21 May, and will close at 6pm on Tuesday 5 June. A successful petition involves three parts:
1. The petition itself, which must be signed by at least two laypeople and two clergy, representing at least three different parishes in the diocese. That file can be downloaded in Word (petitionform.docx) or Pdf (petitionform.pdf). The standing committee needs actual signatures on these forms, so they do need to be printed out and sent in. Please note that not all the same signatures have to be on the same piece of paper. The Standing Committee recognizes that petitioners will be geographically spread out, so it’s ok to send in your petitions separated.
2. The certificate of eligibility, which must be filled out by your candidate. That file can be downloaded in Word (eligibilityform.docx) or Pdf (eligibilityform.pdf)
3. The candidate must submit all the same information and essay questions which have been expected of the other nominees. Instructions will be send to each applicant once the petition forms are received.
