One of the opportunities when we gather at convention this week is to see examples of ministry and explore issues of faith through the lens of our brothers and sisters of Northern Kentucky. We will do this through a series of workshops offer to those attending Convention. Eight workshop topics will be offered. Each Convention participant can chose two topics
Some of the issues and ministries are peculiar to or more evident to our parishes in this area of the Diocese. Other issues are important to us all – Northern Kentucky simply has resources available to address them. We will be able to attend workshops on fantastic ministries – St. Paul’s Pantry, Northern Ky Reading Camp, Fresh Expressions of Worship and Ministry, Back Pack Ministries (food for school school children). One workshop, “Attracting New Partners and New Dollars to your Congregation”, will invite us to consider creative use of our Sacred Spaces. Other workshops will address wider issues of society – Civil Conversation about Coal, led by members of the Leadership team; Faith in a Time of War, Led by a Navy Chaplain; Issues of Addiction – a great challenge in that part of our state.
The people of our Northern Kentucky Parishes have been hard and work welcoming us to this Convention. We hope to all come away with a richer view of this part of our common life.
