Like nearly all of the other days at General Convention, Tuesday began early and ended late. The Diocese of Lexington can be sure that your Convention deputation is working hard, remains fully engaged and taking its rightful place within the Councils of the Church. At the same time, we have all had a lot of fun. It is really a true joy to be a deputy to this 78th General Convention and I am very thankful for the opportunity to serve the Diocese in this capacity.
When asked to consider running for election as a Deputy to Convention, I noted to the Diocese that my passion for the Church is on evangelism, growing our congregations, a desire to plant new congregations and doing transformative mission. I’m happy to report that this House of Deputies, with concurrence from the House of Bishops, has taken some bold steps in the right direction.
First, we have resolved that $5, 000, 000( yes, that’s seven figures) should be put toward the planting of new congregations, and doing transformative Mission.
Secondly, we have resolved that another $1,000’000 ( yes, that’s seven figures) should be put toward the revitalization of existing congregations. And, we have resolved that $3,000,000( yes, that’s seven figures ) towards evangelism in the digital age, which was long, long overdue.
Part of our task now as the Diocese of Lexington is to make sure we are positioned to benefit from these endeavors. If you would , take a moment and ask God to bless these efforts and cause them to be holy and pray that God would expand God’s Kingdom by these efforts. And, pray that God will use you to witness to someone about the love, grace, and new life in JESUS Christ. If each person in our Diocese of Lexington can commit to finding at least one person to become involved in our communities of faith, then what a day of rejoicing that would be and, come to think of it, our Diocese would be doubled. I cannot think of anything more important than this.
We desire your prayers. You are certainly in ours.
