St. Mark’s, Hazard, in partnership with the Diocese, has received one of 55 worldwide UTO grants. The grant supports a project to bring young adult missionaries to the region. The purpose of the grant, according to the Award Booklet, is:
” To sponsor four young adults to live and serve in an intentional spiritual community among the poor of Hazard and Perry County. They will spend their days working with local service agencies with which the church is involved. Equally important, the young adults will be brought into life- changing relationships and partnerships with the people of rural Appalachia.”
This grant is the result of imagination and work between the Bishop, the diocesan staff, the diocesan ECW and the leadership of St. Mark’s, Hazard.
