Christmas was a great success this year with over fifty children receiving gifts and over seventy in attendance and joining together for chili, chicken noodle soup, cookies and other snacks at our Annual Christmas Party. The day before we distributed fifty-five Christmas food baskets feeding a total of one hundred and seventy-four people.
St. Timothy’s will be distributing shoes and clothing this Saturday from 10 until noon.
This past Saturday Bishop Chilton, the Interim Assisting Bishop, joined Herb Mahan from Klote and Associates, Andy Sigmon, Bryant and Connie Kibler, and Nancy and her son Eddie (the homeowners) to continue the work begun by volunteers from the Episcopal Diocese of Western Michigan. We were able to install a new wood burning heat stove and chimney in the new addition as well new carpet. We were also able to join the new and old roofs, trim the eave and repair some drywall. While there is still a significant amount of work to do to complete the room (taping and mudding the ceiling, adding molding to the ceilings and floors, trimming out windows and doors), Eddie and his mother have a warm dry room to live in this winter.
More work will be done over the next year as well as in many other locations. St. Timothy’s had eleven weeks of schools, colleges and churches in 2011 and still had requests at six homes we never got to. We currently have eight weeks filled in 2012. There are full week opportunities throughout the year as well as weekend visits for congregations that can only spare a day or two. For more information, contact the Ven.
