Kenya Ministry

There is a trip being planned to go to Kenya in early October 2012. The Rev. Melanie Mudge is going along with a contingent from the Momma Ada Foundation. We will meet with Diocesan leaders in Eldoret, scope out how well programs are doing and what else can be done. Emmanuel Church has monies to help with a majority of the expenses. St. Paul’s Food Pantry Needs Your Help

From an unfunded idea four years ago, the St. Paul’s Food Pantry has grown to a nearly $50,000 a year operation. The Pantry serves households in Northern Kentucky and sponsors mobile food pantries in Pendleton, Owen, and Boone counties. The pantry has distributed more than 200,000 pounds of food to individuals and families, along with a smile and generous dose of care by Pantry volunteers We are reminded each week of a need that continues to grow and we are reaching out to you to help us meet . . .

Volunteer at Lexington Reading Camp

The Lexington Reading Camp serves struggling students from across the city of Lexington. Children from low-income households who struggle with reading skills are accepted on full scholarship to attend. But - to make Reading Camp a reality - we need volunteers! Volunteer jobs span a range: behind-the-scenes to hands-on. Be a support staffer, teacher, counselor, chaperone, activity coordinator, snack coordinator, etc. There's a place for everyone. Choral Evensong at Good Shepherd

Tornado Relief School Supply Drive

In March, tornadoes destroyed the library at Salyersville Grade School and damaged most of its classrooms. The school, located in Magoffin County (the fifth poorest county in the United States) is home to 550 students K-6th grade. St. Hubert's, Clark County, along with the Venerable Bryant Kibler, the Rt. Rev. Chilton Knudsen, and Reading Camp, is spearheading a school supply drive. Every church in the diocese is asked to collect donations of school supplies and library books during June. Festival of the Bluegrass

The mission of the Festival of the Bluegrass is to maintain the roots of Bluegrass music in Kentucky and to honor the community spirit of evenings spent on front porches throughout Appalachia. Organ Concert and Evensong at Christ Church Cathedral

Organist Lisa Hall will give a recital featuring the music of Messiaen and Durufle. Hall, Assistant Organist at Christ Church Cathedral Lexington, has performed in Rome, Italy and Gloucester Cathedral, England with Asbury's Chorale. In addition, Hall sings with Ecco, an a cappella Renaissance choral ensemble.
