Holy Conversations Data Analysis

  • <p>In the sacred space of the sanctuary of Our Saviour, Madison County, the Nominating Committee set their work in scriptural context to begin the day of data analysis, surrounded by reams of newsprint on the walls, representing the seven Holy Conversations held in regions of the Diocese, and with clergy and staff.</p>
  • <p>Nominating Committee members spent time studying the qualities that emerged from the stories told at Holy Conversations-looking for common themes that underlay the many and diverse stories.</p>
  • <p>Several hours were spent in pulling the values from the newsprint and posting them on the large blue cloth (which, like the “Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants,” has traveled the length and breadth of the Diocese of Lexington, assisting in allowing the qualities valued in our parishes to emerge during their nominating processes).</p>
  • <p>At the half way point in data analysis, the committee pauses before the emerging values, concerns, wishes, hopes and dreams to share their process with the Diocese. After this photo was taken, in teams of three, they compared the qualities with the individual stories on the individual sheets from each Holy Conversation, to be sure that all underlying values were captured. This process serves as the foundation for writing the goals and challenges, and looking for the competencies and skills needed to help achieve the goals and meet the challenges and opportunities represented.</p>

Celebration for Dean Rutenbar

  • <p>Christ Church Cathedral had a celebration of transition during their Sunday services and at a festive brunch. The service for the ending of a pastoral relationship was celebrated, with the SCHOLA choir singing the Irish Blessing as the Cathedral parish thanked Dean-in-the-Interim LaRae Rutenbar for her 15 months of leadership. Dean Rutenbar received special gifts and a standing ovation at the Brunch.</p>

  • <p>The foals and mares are cared for with compassion and love.</p>
  • <p>Martin O´Dowd is a breeder who has been with Runnymeade Farm for more than 25 years. </p>
  • <p>Spouses and partners enjoyed the day as well.</p>
  • <p>Organist/Choirmaster Owen Sammons presented improvisations on the organ.</p>
  • <p>Author/art historian Estill Curtis Pennington shared the history of the stained glass windows and their inconography.</p>

 

Executive Council Retreat 2011

  • <p>Executive Council members gathered in the Fireside Room at the Cathedral Domain for a “Fireside Chat” with Bishop Sauls on the opening evening of the annual Executive Council Spring Retreat.</p>
  • <p>Old and new members enjoyed an introductory round of “People Bingo” to become acquainted with each other. Bishop Sauls, Assistant Chancellor Jane Fitzpatrick and Mary T. Yeiser fill in some answers on the Bingo forms.</p>
  • <p>Steve Gabbard, St. Andrews’, Fort Thomas and Paul Wilson, St. Paul’s, Newport, have a good time with the questions.</p>
  • <p>Ann Davis McClain, Diocesan Treasurer, from St. Peter’s, Paris, and Michael Henderson from Nativity, Maysville are also enjoying the exercise.</p>

The Rev. Philip Haug leaves Trinity, Danville

  • <p>The Rev. Phillip Haug, Rector-in-the-Interim at Trinity, Danville was honored with a special joint service and ritual of farewell, and a celebratory luncheon on Sunday, March 13</p>
  • <p>Sr. Warden Ken Maderis presented Father Phillip with a generous check for one of his favorite charities, Food For the Poor, in Thanksgiving for his ministry among them.</p>
