Christian Formation Resources for Youth
Embracing Series of small-group resources: The Power of Youth: an Open-Ended, Free Flowing, Flexible Resource for Youth featuring Rodger Nishioka and Bronwyn Skov, with study materials by Bronwyn Skov and Sharon Pearson.
This newly-released study for youth contains eight relevant sessions aimed at today’s youth: Being Important (Joel 2:28), Being a Prophet (Acts 2:1-24), Being a Servant (John 13:1-17), Being a Consumer (Romans 12:1-3),Being Generous (Luke 21:1-4),Being a Change Agent (Ephesians 4:17-5:2), Being Yourself (1 Corinthians 12:12-31), Being a Connector (Ephesians 4:1-6, 11-16).
The package contains a DVD with video content and a CD with printable Leader’s Guide and Student Handouts. Cost is about $50.
Episcopal Relief and Development
All youth programs are free, downloadable, and include topics like Malaria, Clean Water and Sanitation, and Hunger and Economic Opportunity, Act Out Methodology, Clean Water and Sanitation, Malaria and NetsforLife® , Hunger and Economic Opportunity, and Clean Water and Sanitation for Camps/VBS
A free downloadable on-line lectionary-based youth program from the ELCA. It is appropriate for Middle School through young adults.
Journey to Adulthood
A program for those starting in 6th grade through 12th. Currently used by Christ Church Cathedral and formerly by Good Shepherd. The program is rich with liturgies and rites of passage. The lesson plans take time for leaders to develop. Cost is based on average Sunday attendance, are downloadable and paid annually.
Lesson Plans that Work
An Episcopal program that is free and downloadable. The lessons are dated, but can be used as a basis or start.
Living the Good News
For youth grades 7th through 12th. Cost is $129 for a full year and is downloadable. It is an Episcopal lectionary based and includes take home papers, art, and music.
Making it Real and Relevant
An Episcopal lectionary based youth ministry that uses contemporary images and ideas for lectionary based study. It is for grades 9-12 and cost is based on average Sunday attendance.
An Episcopal curriculum for all ages and cost is based on average Sunday attendance. It is on-line and downloadable.
The Sunday Paper
An Episcopal, lectionary based program. It has an annual fee and can be used for almost any grade. It is activity based.
An Episcopal program based on the lectionary which helps connect youth through discussion, media and computer resources. It is designed for Middle School (6-8th grade) and High School (9-12th grade). It has a small annual cost of $75 for a full year. It also has seasonal material for a rate of $25.
The Thoughtful Christian
A web-based resource from the Presbyterian church and can be used for individual or group study. It is a subscription with a small fee.
Virginia Theology Seminary Youth Program
A free downloadable program that deals with all areas of the Bible. It includes use of all media, discussion, and lessons are easy with lots of choices. Lots of choices of topics and activities to teach topics. Currently at use at Good Shepherd.
An online program available for about $78 a year which gives a news in current events, gives Biblical passages to look at, and then asks big questions about beliefs, Christian living, ethics, and morality.
